Certified Diabetes Care adn Education Specialist
Wayne HealthCare Diabetes Programs & Education
Research shows people who receive diabetes education are more likely to be healthy and thrive. That’s because they’re more likely to engage in primary care and preventative services, take their medications as prescribed, control their blood glucose, and manage their blood pressure and cholesterol levels. They also frequently have lower diabetes-related health care costs thanks to their participation in learning more about their diabetes.

Diabetes Wellness Program
Studies show that people who are involved in a support group experience
greater success than those who do it alone. Not only will you be encouraged
by others, but you will have an opportunity to learn about issues that
affect people with diabetes.
Our Certified Diabetes Educator, Karen Droesch, RD, LD, CDE, leads
each free monthly program at Wayne HealthCare. Topics range from self-care, improving blood glucose,
and healthy eating.

Individual Session with a Registered Dietitian
One of the most popular questions asked by a person with diabetes is "what can I eat?" A dietitian can show you how, by planning and moderation, you can eat just about anything you’d like. In this program, also known as medical nutrition therapy, a dietitian specializing in diabetic meal planning will help you to develop food strategies that best fit your lifestyle.
Community Programs
We host and support a variety of community events and programs each year. These events help increase diabetes awareness and promote wellness.
