Hepatitis A Cases Increasing in Montgomery County
Public Health of Dayton & Montgomery County is seeing an increase of Hepatitis A cases. They have reported that so far in 2018, there have been 13 cases of Hepatitis A in Montgomery County. Last year there was one reported case and in 2016 there were no reported cases.
It is recommended that people who have not previously been vaccinated against Hepatitis A, speak to their physician about receiving the vaccine. In neighboring states (KY, MI, IN, and WV) there have been between 50 and 671 cases in recent years, so far this year, The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is calculating the total of confirmed cases in Ohio to be 65.
